Anni Albers was born in 1899 in Berlin, Germany and died in 1994 in Orange, Connecticut. She was one of the most influential figures in textile arts in the 20th century and helped to reestablish work in textiles as an art form.

Anni Albers entered the Weaving Workshop at the Bauhaus, Germany in 1923. In 1929, she was appointed to teach Design Theory to the Bauhaus weavers and later that year she became acting director of the workshop. In 1933 she became head of the weaving department at Black Mountain College, Asheville, North Carolina.

The Anni Series are computer-generated images either loosely or directly inspired by Alber's graphite sketches, drawings, and textile designs.
